Setup will be similar but slightly different for the Fleet and the One Truck versions of the Program. The manual will cover both options. First let's look at the ONE TRUCK version - this version is for use by the Company Driver or Single Truck Owner Operator who be the primary driver in his program. If you run team, your co-driver will need to have their own copy of the program in which to do their logs. You will then set up and 'Association' between the two of you which will allow each of you to see and display the others logs. The rules and procedures for this are covered in the section on
Co-Drivers.
ONE TRUCK VERSION - When you first click on the Log Master you will need to answer a few questions in order to set up a history for the program to use in validating your logs. Be sure to answer these questions carefully as the answers will be used to set the program up and CANNOT BE EDITED after you start entering logs. The only way to change this data is to delete any log information you have entered and start the Log Master over again.
.
The first thing that the program needs to know is the DAY YOU WILL ENTER YOUR FIRST LOG.
NOTE: LOGS MUST BE ENTERED IN ORDER - YOU CANNOT SKIP A DAY AND YOU CANNOT EDIT A PREVIOUS DAY ONCE IT HAS BEEN COMPLETED AND SIGNED (we are working on a change for this, but at this time you cannot edit a previous day without deleting following logs to the point of the error, changing it and then reentering any following days)
Enter the date that you want you first log for. You will be asked, later in this process, to also provide a log for the preceding day so that the program has this record to use in starting and checking your first 'official' log in the program.
You'll also set up the initial carrier, this is the carrier you are running for on the day of the first official log and to choose the RULE SET to use. The program also has the ability to setup and use custom rule sets but that is not available during the initial set up.
Next you'll confirm your previous entry. If there's an error in the day/date you selected previously click the BACK button to change it.
You will also answer the question on how many consecutive hours you were off duty and/or in the sleeper immediately prior to 11:59PM two days before your first official log. For our example our first official log is WEDNESDAY so this question is for immediately prior to the start (midnight) TUESDAY. Remember, you will enter a log for the day BEFORE your first official log, so what this question needs to know is what your schedule was for the other 6 preceding days. The maximum you can enter here, even if you were off duty for longer is 144 hours (6x24). The program is only interested in the preceding 6 days. If you were On Duty or Driving a CMV during the preceding 7 days, you'll enter your actual number of continuous off duty hours prior to the start of the preceding day. For our example we will put that we were off for 36 hours and click CONTINUE.
Next you'll enter your hours On Duty for the previous days -
The grid will load the appropriate days for you to enter the On Duty hours based on your previous entry. Fill in the hours and then set your status for END OF THE PREVIOUS DAY. Remember, I know I said this above but it's worth repeating, that you will enter an actual log for the day before your first 'official' log. So what you enter here will be the start status for that day.
and here it is one last time - Setup Is Complete (sort of) we'll talk about that next. Click OK and you will get a blank log. See the next section FIRST LOG to continue.
