Manage Accounts

 
The Manage Accounts section will allow you to rename accounts, change account types and delete accounts if you do not need them. To access the Manage Accounts screen click the Manage Accounts link at the top of the Income & Expense window. The Manage Accounts screen will be displayed.
 
Toggle through the pages to find the account you want to edit, change or remove (delete). If the account does not have any entries associated with it you will get the following window when you click on Edit which will allow you to change the Account#, Name and Type of account.
 
If the account does have entries the Type box will be grayed out. You will still be able to change the name and account number if you wish, but the account type cannot be changed after transactions are assigned to the account. Just bear in mind that changing the name will change the name for all transactions associated with this account so be sure that this will not create a problem for old entries.
 
Delete: If an account does not have any entries that used it the account can be deleted. Find the account and then click the Delete button next to it. The Verify window will then be displayed -
 
As the message tells you there is no Undo for this. Once you delete the record it is no longer available and you cannot open another new account with that name in the future. We do not recommend deleting accounts. Rename accounts you no longer want to use the account for something else. As long as there are no entries assigned to the account you can change the Name, Number & Type.
 
If you do attempt to delete an account that has entries assigned to it you will get the Delete error message
 
and the program will not delete the account. You would need to delete any associated entries, or assign them to a different account before you could delete that account.
