Enter RouteIf you are using the routing to check routes or to Rate a load you can enter a route, try different scenarios, etc. in the routing section. To enter a route if the grid is currently populated you can click NEW TRIP to clear the grid. Next click in the CITY field and enter the city. Tab or mouse to the State field and enter the two letter abbreviation for the state.
ZIP CODES - You can enter the City, State and then skip the Zip code box and a selection box of zip codes for that city will appear.
Note: if the pick list doesn't popup when you exit the Zip Code box (leaving it empty) and the zip code box doesn't populate go to OPTIONS and put a check in the Pick List box. That will turn the Pick List on. The program requires a zip code if the pick list is on.
Using zip codes will improve the accuracy of the routing. When using just a city, state the program will route to main post office (city code) for the city which is usually a central downtown point in the city. In large cities this can be several miles from your actual destination. Using the zip code for the area you are going to will get the routing much closer.
STATUS - Enter B for Bobtail, E for Empty or L for Loaded. All trips will be one of those 3 status types. Press tab again and the focus will move to the Add button. Press the Enter key or click on the Add button to add the location to the trip.
INSERT - Will allow you to insert the currently entered City/State into the trip. A popup will appear asking where you want to insert the location -
For our example Bay City, Tx is between Dallas and Dalton so we would click on Dalton and the program would then insert the new location before Dalton.
DELETE - the LIST LOCATIONS box shown above will be displayed. Click the location that you want to delete and the program will remove it from the route.
OTHER COMMENTS ON ENTERING ROUTES -
CANADIAN ZIP CODES - Unlike US zip codes, Canadian zip codes are tied to the street address. This makes it impractical for the program to do lookups based on Canadian locations. For Canada you will need to know the zip code or use the internet to search for it.
ADDRESS TO ADDRESS ROUTING - The program does not do Address to Address routing. It will do city to city and zip code to zip code but we do not currently have address to address functionality. As noted in the ADDRESS BOX in the Route section the Address functionality is for FIND & DISPLAY only.
