This article deals with making a backing up your data to a CDR or CDRW disk. Unless you do not have a floppy disk drive backing up to a CD is generally overkill. It's kind of like using a 53 foot trailer to haul a pea. Use a floppy disk if you can, it's the easiest way to do backups. A more modern solution, and a much more secure one is to us a USB Flash Drive. Click the link to order your trucker safe thumb drive today and start keeping your data safely in your pocket or purse. BACKUP TO A CD The general problem that is encountered when backing up to a CD is that Windows does not report the CD to the program as a writeable disk. You must have the CD formatted as a removable media; that is, formatted so you can drag and drop things on it using Windows Explorer. If it is formatted correctly the program will backup to it. If you are experiencing problems getting the backup to see the CD, you can still save your backup to a CD by following the instructions below. First do a backup to your hard drive:
Next open Windows Explorer. Navigate to the c:\Truckers Helper\bakups directory.
Now move the LEFT WINDOW down until you can see your CD drive.
Now put your mouse over the truck6.trk file and drag it to the CD drive. The backup has now been copied to your CD drive. You can reverse this proceedure to move the backup file back into the bakups folder and then restore it from there. |
